Submission Complete
Texas high school and college students submit written film concepts to enter the contest. All written film concepts are due by November 23, 2012.
Review Complete
Judges review all eligible concept entries to select the top 30 high school and 30 college semifinalist concepts.
Voting Complete
Online voting takes place to choose the top 10 high school and top 10 college concepts. Each voter must register through Flockstar and can vote for 1 high school and 1 college concept.
Enhancement Complete
- The 10 finalists in both the high school and college categories are partnered with contest mentors to produce films based on their concepts that will compete for Grand and First Prizes. All finalist films must be submitted by February 15, 2013.
- Meanwhile, their written film concepts will remain posted online. Members of the online community can submit 1 idea per concept to suggest enhancements to the film concept, which the filmmakers may or may not use. Up to 3 enhancements per concept will be awarded a $50 Visa® Prepaid Card.
- Students who would like to compete, but chose not to participate in Phases 1-3, can submit a completed film by February 15, 2013. They will only be eligible for the Community Choice Award.
Voting Complete
All eligible films submitted by February 15, 2013, are posted for online community voting (1 vote per Flockstar user per category).
- The single high school and college films with the most online community votes will be named Community Choice Winners.
- The 10 finalist film entries in each category will also be reviewed by the panel of judges. Online community votes and judges’ votes will be calculated to determine 1 Grand Prize Winner and 1 First Place Winner in each category.
Announced Apr 12
Community Choice Winners, First Place Winners and Grand Prize Winners in each category will be invited to the 2013 Dallas Film Society Honors Ceremony, where final Winner rankings will be announced.
